Vergennes Partnership is Making It Happen!

For more than 25 years, the Partnership has been helping Vergennes grow and thrive — and with your support, we can continue to Make It Happen! We would love to share what we have already accomplished, what we are working on today, and the exciting plans we have for the future.

But first, a few things you might not know:

●      Independent Nonprofit: The Partnership is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization — completely independent from the City of Vergennes and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce.

●      Powered by Volunteers: With just one part-time Executive Director and an all-volunteer Board, every project is powered by the passion and energy of dedicated community volunteers.

●      Focused on Vergennes: Since 1999, we’ve been the only organization solely and fully committed to the well-being and promotion of the City of Vergennes.

●      Community-Supported:  Every promotion, program, event and improvement is made possible thanks to generous supporters like you who believe in our mission.

So, what difference has the Partnership made in Vergennes — and how are we continuing to Make It Happen? Let’s take a look…

 THE RESULTS ARE IN!

A large vertical thermometer chart at the center shows progress toward a $40,000 goal, with marks at various amounts. Below the chart are sponsor logos, donation and vote instructions, and a QR code.

What started out as friendly teasing between Vergennes Partnership Board members turned into the biggest rivalry in the Champlain Valley Scott Gaines (veteran VP Board Member) versus Cory Foote (newest VP Board Member). During our 2025 Fundraising Campaign, donors were asked to vote for either Team Scott or Team Cory. The donation amounts associated with each vote were tracked along with our grand total.

It was a close competitionwith some supporters kindly and diplomatically voting for bothbut TEAM SCOTT was ultimately the victor! Unfortunately for Scott, we added a bittersweet twist: the winner earns bragging rights for the year but must don the uniform of their most despised sports team to keep them humble. For Scott, as a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, that meant suiting up in full New York Yankees gear!

As you can tell from the video and photos below, victory has never looked so pinstriped! Yankees swag courtesy of former Vergennes Police Chief George Merkel and current Chief Jason Ouelletteboth huge Yankees fans, they absolutely delighted in Scott’s misery!
